WeedML: a medium for representation and exchange of weed demographic models
The Weed Markup Language (WeedML) is an open, XML-based format for representing models of the population dynamics of agricultural weeds. WeedML is a software-independent language freely available on Internet. WeedML makes it easy to employ parameters defined in the Weed Traits Database (WTDB).
Users of WeedML will ultimately not write WeedML files by hand. Software tools must be developed, e.g. to edit WeedML files and to run a model formulated in WeedML.
WeedML is very much inspired by SBML, a highly successful language for formulating models in Systems Biology.
Models, formulated in WeedML, can be executed with the open-source Universal Simulator software package.
